Recent Lakers rumors are that they tried at list minute attempt to trade for Andre Iguodala before he was sent to the Miami Heat.
With the NBA Trade Deadline just hours away, recent Lakers rumors have been about their attempt to acquire Andre Iguodala from the Memphis Grizzlies.
Iguodala was traded to the Grizzlies over the summer by the Golden State Warriors, and he immediately wanted to be bought out so he could play for a contender. The Grizzlies didn’t grant him that wish, as they believed that they could trade him for something of value.
The Grizzlies patience has paid off, as they have reportedly dealt Iguodala to the Miami Heat for Justise Winslow.
Memphis has agreed to a deal to send Andre Iguodala to Miami, league source tells ESPN. Iguodala agreed to trade and has agreed to a two-year, $30M extension with Miami.

This is certainly a good deal for the Grizzlies, as Iguodala didn’t play a single game for them. Unfortunately, this does set a bad precedent of players not playing in order to get off the current team that they are on.
For the Lakers, Iguodala was a player that they have been linked to since he was traded to Memphis. Due to his history with Rob Pelinka and the Lakers being a contender this season, Iguodala to Los Angeles made a lot of sense.
Despite him going to the Heat, the Lakers did reportedly make a last-second attempt to trade for him.
Yahoo Sources. The Los Angeles Lakers have ventured down all avenues — including a last Hail Mary attempt — to seek a path to Andre Iguodala, but it is becoming apparent that Miami has Memphis’ attention right now.

Due to the Lakers not having a lot of tradable assets or cap flexibility, trading for Iguodala would have been very challenging. Since Haynes doesn’t report the players that the Lakers offered for Iguodala, Danny Green likely would have been involved in order to match salary.
Considering Iguodala is 36-years-old, trading Green or even potentially Kuzma for him wouldn’t have been a great move for the Lakers. While Iguodala would have helped defensively and brought more championship experience, losing one or two players like Green and Kuzma would have been a negative.

With the trade deadline closing in, the Lakers are certainly going to be a team to watch. However, them making a big deal is going to be tricky with what Pelinka has to work with. If the deadline comes and goes without any moves, expect the Lakers to be pursuing potential buy out candidates.
