With the All-Star break here, Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers is confident that the team can still win a championship.

When the Los Angeles Lakers were put together this summer, expectations were high.

The trade to acquire Anthony Davis instantly made the Lakers one of the best teams in the NBA. However, it was the moves after the trade for Davis that really made them become a title contender.

Even though the NBA will always be a superstar league, you still need to have role players that can step up for you. After adding a lot of new faces this offseason, the Lakers clearly have that.

However, despite having one of the best records in the NBA, the Lakers were still trying to improve before the trade deadline. No trades ended up happening for the Lakers, as they will now be keeping an eye on the buyout market and also on a few players that never signed this season.

Recently, Davis spoke about where he thinks the team stands now as we enter the All-Star break. Here’s what he said via Christian Rivas of Silver Screen and Roll.

"“We knew that when we put this team together,” Davis said. “We felt like we were a championship contender as soon as we put the team together. We still have that confidence in our players. We just have to get back to doing the things we do.”"

Even though the Lakers didn’t make a move, this is still certainly a team that can compete for an NBA Title. The Lakers currently hold the best record in the Western Conference, which means the road to the title in the West would have to run through Los Angeles.

The Staples Center can certainly be a huge advantage for the Lakers come playoff time, as some of the best fans in the NBA will be hungry to see the Lakers competing in the playoffs once again.
