Ranking every Kobe Bryant season with the Lakers: 10. 1999-00

Now we get to start having some fun as we crack the top 10 of the list. The first season that Kobe would win a championship with the Lakers. In Phil Jackson’s first year with the Lakers the team won 67 games and won 15 of their 22 games Kobe played in the playoffs. He missed one game in the Finals from a Jalen Rose play that led to a twisted ankle.

The duo of Shaq and Kobe were too dominant for the NBA to handle. It was the start of a 3-peat and the Lakers taking over basketball again. Bryant, although he didn’t have the highest scoring total of his career, he was efficient and continued getting better. His eFG% of 48.8% was tied for the sixth-highest of his career.

He shot 46.8% from the field which was the second-highest of his career. His stat line consisted of 22.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game on shooting splits of 46.8/31.9/82.1. Also to mention he was doing all of this at just 21 years of age.

The season started a streak of 17 straight All-Star appearances and started to put him on the map of the best players in the game. He displayed elite talents on both the offensive and defensive end leading to a 107.1 offensive rating and 96.4 defensive rating good for a +10.7 net-rating.

For the season Bryant made his first selection to the All-NBA second team and was picked for the All-Defensive first team list. It was the moment he introduced himself to the NBA and let them know he was here to stay for a long time.
