3. Heat check scorer

The Lakers have two elite scorers in Anthony Davis and LeBron James. It requires very little effort for each player to go off for 30 points per night. On most nights when each player scores 30+ points the Lakers will usually win. On the nights when one or both players are not feeling it, things can get out of hand very quickly.

The Lakers have players like Kyle Kuzma, Danny Green, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Dwight Howard capable of getting buckets when LeBron and AD aren’t feeling it, but none of the players named can do it consistently for the purple and gold. If Kyle Kuzma can get hot to finish out the year then the Lakers would have someone capable of lightening the load for Davis and LeBron, but up until right now, that has not been the case.

In Dion Waiters, the Lakers get a player who is known to get red hot and stay that way for extended periods of time. A career 13.2 points per game scorer, Waiters can score from anywhere on the floor.

The Lakers wouldn’t require him to go off every single night, they have enough talent to get them by, but when he is called upon, it will be important for Waiters to torch other teams with his scoring.

If the Lakers can get Waiters to focus, to buy into the championship mentality which they currently have and play to the best of his ability, then the Lakers will be getting an impactful player who could have a big impact in the playoffs for the purple and gold.
