The Los Angeles Lakers have shown they’re one of the best teams in the NBA. With a lengthy suspension looming, we evaluate how the team has played so far this year.

The Los Angeles Lakers season came to a screeching halt with the NBA suspending operations. NBA came to a screeching halt. Nothing like we’ve ever seen before. All it took was a positive test from Utah Jazz center, Rudy Gobert to set it into motion. In the end, it will be a blessing that it took place when it did.

Without that test taking place, Donovan Mitchell plays while infected and so does Christian Wood in Detroit. Both players tested positive following the domino by Gobert. The Brooklyn Nets also had four players test positive.

NBA fans should look to the heroic act of Dr. Donnie Strack in Oklahoma City, sprinting out to the court to stop the Thunder-Jazz game tip-off.

But, all chaos aside. What we’ve seen from the Lakers this year has been inconsistent with dominant play as of late. They started out the year very hot and then leveled out. They went into the suspension, winning games against other contenders such as the Los Angeles Clippers and Milwaukee Bucks.

The Lakers were expected to have growing pains during the season. They basically decimated their entire roster and brought in all new pieces. No matter how much talent you have, it is bound to take time to put it all together.

That final formula was making its way around and we seemed to be getting close to seeing the Lakers dominate. They were doing it on both ends of the floor and their chemistry was at an all-time high. Add in the addition of Dion Waiters on the buyout market and they were about to make a run.

The NBA very well could start back up in June. Whether it’s straight into playoffs or continue the season. We won’t know until this whole situation plays itself out.

With that being said, let’s evaluate this Lakers team that sits at 49-14 and the one seed in the West.
