Here are three players the Los Angeles Lakers should have selected over Moritz Wagner in the 2018 NBA Draft.
With the NBA season currently being suspended, it has given many a chance to look back into the past and the moves that their respective teams have made.
For the Los Angeles Lakers, after years of losing, they have had some high draft picks this decade. For the most part, the Lakers have been very good at finding and evaluating talent.
In all sports, scouting college kids looking to make the jump to the next level could be one of the hardest things for any front office to do. However, the Lakers have done a strong job finding some diamonds in the rough over the past few years.
With a strong reputation of scouting heading into the 2018 NBA Draft after a great 2017 draft, the Lakers selected Moritz Wagner with the 25th overall pick. Considering the year before they selected Josh Hart and Kyle Kuzma, optimism was high for Wagner.
However, the decision to draft Wagner with the 25th pick hasn’t looked like a good one so far. Wagner lasted just one season with the Lakers and was a bench warmer on a team that wasn’t very good, to begin with.
After just one season in Los Angeles, Wagner was dealt to the Washington Wizards as a cap dump so the Lakers could pursue Kawhi Leonard after they completed a trade for Anthony Davis.
While it is still early on in Wagner’s career and he could improve, here are three players that the Lakers should have selected over him.
