The Los Angeles Lakers have had some of the most prestigious players in the history of the NBA, but they have also had some one-hit wonders as well.

If you are making a list of the greatest players to ever step foot on the court in the NBA then chances are that you will come across quite a few Los Angeles Lakers.

Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Shaquille O’Neal, James Worthy, LeBron James, Pau Gasol — need we say more?

There is a sense of royalty with the Los Angeles Lakers’ lineage and that is why it was so fitting for LeBron James, who is at least a top-three player of all-time, to finish his career with the one team that has a larger brand image than he does.

However, just because the lineage runs deep in Los Angeles does not mean that every player who breaks out becomes a star. There have been quite a few players throughout the history of the Lakers that seemed ready to blossom into something special, only to be considered after the thought as a one-hit-wonder.

Some of these players never regained their old form, some simply went to other teams after one great season with the Lakers and had their prime elsewhere. Regardless, here are three of the Los Angeles Lakers’ best examples of Vanilla Ice.
