Lakers: 5 free agency options if Anthony Davis leaves
4. Andre Drummond
Andre Drummond will likely cost the Los Angeles Lakers a pretty penny if they wanted to secure his services with reports that he is seeking a max contract this summer. He does not fit the Lakers’ dynamic, but he is still one of the best rebounders and rim protectors in the league.
Lakers head coach Frank Vogel prides himself on being a defensive-minded coach and Drummond would be able to fit right into that. Instead of the Javale McGee-Dwight Howard tandem in Los Angeles, the Lakers could look to Drummond next season instead.
The Lakers will have the money to pay him, but whether or not it is a good investment for the franchise is really up to the front office. Personally, I believe it is a no-brainer: avoid the hefty price tag.
Drummond is an old-fashioned center who is in the midst of a skill reset. The center has recently begun to shoot the three albeit at a low volume (1.8 attempts per game) and at a subpar rate (28.6% from the arc). He is not the type of run-and-gun floor stretching big that needs to play alongside LeBron James.
