The Los Angeles Lakers enter the 2020 NBA Draft with only one selection of their own — their first-round draft pick that is currently slated to be the 29th overall pick.

The Lakers will likely consider buying into the second round as well as they have done in the past if they see a guy slip down. The organization has a strong track record when it comes to the draft and this year’s figures to not be of any deviation from that notoriety.

Los Angeles did surrender a solid amount of future draft picks and pick swaps in the Anthony Davis trade, but they will keep their 2020 first-rounder and most likely their 2021 first-rounder.

Projecting out a bit further, it looks as if their 2022 first will belong to New Orleans and there will be a pick swap involved for the following three seasons until 2026. Simply put, it’s not as bad as it sounds — it’s just complicated.

The 2020 NBA Draft is a gold mine for excellent role players, in my opinion. The Lakers should definitely hold on to their 29th overall selection in the draft and should buy a pick or two in the second round. While this draft is pretty weak at the top, paling in comparison to the Zion Williamson headliner in 2019, there is depth.

We decided to take a look at a player at each position for the Los Angeles Lakers to set their sights on in the upcoming draft — one that is still under a lot of uncertainty at this point in time.
