Los Angeles Lakers: NBA Draft targets at each position
Small Forward: Tyler Bey
Honorable Mention: Elijah Hughes
Tyler Bey would be an absolutely perfect pick for the Lakers despite his position, but he will likely go ahead of 29. He might be just 6’7, but he has experience playing the four and he might be best utilized there as an NBA player.
Bey is an excellent rebounder who averaged 11.2 boards per 36 minutes for Colorado last season. He did not shoot the three-ball at a high volume, but he did shoot it well for a 41.9 percent clip on 1.0 attempt per night. He is an interesting prospect — it is hard to find a 6’7 forward who can rebound at such a high rate. At 22, Bey will make some contender happy if he slips.
Elijah Hughes of Syracuse University had an excellent season for Jim Boeheim in 2019-2020 and was slighted for the ACC Player of the Year by someone else we will talk about later.
He has initiator skills and can definitely pass the rock and shoot from deep. He is the type of jack-of-all-trades prospect that teams will jump for in the second round.
