2. Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers are deep in the backcourt but they still do not really have a traditional point guard to back up Ben Simmons. The backcourt is filled with two-guards, leaving the 76ers without a playmaking point guard in the second unit.

Shake Milton gets most of the minutes as the back-up point guard but he is not suited to be a traditional point guard and has played much better off-ball as a shooter. The 76ers need an inexpensive backup point guard that can not only provide minutes to the team but can mentor some of these young guards as well.

Enter Rajon Rondo, who checks both of those boxes for the team.

There is no better mentor for Ben Simmons and the rest of the young backcourt than Rajon Rondo, who is one of the best pure point guards of this generation. Rondo would be a great bench option to bring in behind Simmons and could even help the team stagger Simmons and Joel Embiid‘s minutes more while keeping a traditional point guard out on the court.

The 76ers are a team that would likely be willing to trade a second-round pick to the Lakers for Rondo and it works out, as the 76ers have four picks in the second round, one of which belonging to the Lakers.

Rondo too could be excited about this trade as while he would no longer be on the Lakers, he would at least be joining a contending team with opportunities.
