3. Boston Celtics
Rajon Rondo will forever be remembered as a Boston Celtic for being a part of the 2008 championship team and playing out his prime in Boston. While he has bounced around the league since leaving Boston, maybe it is time to go back home for Rondo.

This is not a deal that the Celtics would make out of nostalgia, however, as the team has a legitimate need at the backup point guard position. Brad Wanamaker is the team’s backup guard and if you could replace his minutes with Rondo then the Celtics would be much better off.
It would be a nice style fit as well as he could come off the bench behind Kemba Walker and form a nice defensive backcourt alongside Marcus Smart. This would give the Celtics one of the deepest backcourts in the league and is definitely something worth trading a second-round pick for.
The Celtics have the Brooklyn Nets’ second-round pick and that would be more than enough to take Rondo off the Lakers’ hands. The Lakers would get the flexibility of looking elsewhere at the point guard position while Rondo and the Celtics would get a homecoming.
The Lakers and Celtics have done business before as well, so it is not like the two rivals won’t put away their differences.
The two teams have made three total trades with each other, with the last ironically including the pick that was used to select Rondo. That pick eventually made its way to the Phoenix Suns, who drafted Rondo and then traded him to Boston.
