Los Angeles Lakers: LeBron James’ best games of the 2019-2020 season
5. 11/1/19 vs Mavericks
After failing to make the playoffs in LeBron’s first year in LA, many were questioning whether LeBron still had another title run left in the tank. He suffered the first major injury of his career last season, causing him to play in only 55 games, the lowest total of his career.
It also didn’t help that the Lakers lost their season opener to their crosstown rivals after an entire summer of hyping up the city’s new superstar duos.
In the team’s fifth game of the season, LeBron showed everyone that not only was he healthy, but that he hadn’t even lost a step.
After starting the season out on the slow side (by his own standards, at least), James put up 39 points, 16 assists and 12 rebounds to earn his first triple-double of the year, out-dueling fellow future All-Star Luka Dončić and giving him a game score of 40.8 on the night, which is currently his highest of the season.
The King was also showing energy on the defensive side of the floor reminiscent of a younger James, adding four steals and a block to his already padded stat sheet.
