2. The Los Angeles Lakers have a championship-caliber team
When the NBA season was suspended because of the novel coronavirus pandemic, the Lakers had a 49-14 record. That put them in first place in the Western Conference, and it was the second-best record in all of pro basketball.
The weekend before commissioner Adam Silver brought the season to a screeching halt, the Purple and Gold had defeated both the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Clippers in pretty convincing fashion.
If, or when, the season resumes, the Lakers would have to be one of the favorites, if not the favorites, to win the NBA world championship. After all, most observers are convinced that Davis and James are the best superstar duo in the league right now.
What team could Davis sign with this offseason who could not only give him the same shot at a ‘chip, but also pay him the money he deserves and allow him to play in a huge media market like L.A.?
Go ahead. I’ll wait while you come up with an answer.
I’ll grab a beer, or two, or three, or 12 while you think of a team that can give Davis everything the Lakers have given him this season.
