The NBA, and the entire sports world, for that matter, is currently at a stand-still. We are over 50 days into the COVID-19 pandemic halting professional sports, with our last lingering image of the NBA season being the Utah Jazz and Oklahoma City Thunder being ushered off the court right before tip-off as it was learned that Rudy Gobert tested positive for the coronavirus.
Right now, sports fans and analysts are hopeful that the season can resume at some point. There has been a myriad of ideas tossed around, with the most popular being to essentially put the league in a bubble, most likely in Lav Vegas or Orlando, and finishing the season that way.
This would take rigorous safety measures as well as a vast number of tests.
Right now we are still in wait and see mode and we still do not know if we are going to get to see the Los Angeles Lakers finish the season. From a selfish fan standpoint, this was the worst possible season that this could happen, as it is the first time in almost a decade that the team is legitimate title contenders.
Laker fans are certainly hoping for the season to resume (in a safe manner, of course) and there are some players that have more stake in the game as well.
