The Los Angeles Lakers and the rest of the NBA are in uncertain times. With the season on hold and no certainty in regards to when or if it will come back, a keen eye must be kept on the team’s long-term plans.

Things were going so well.

The Los Angeles Lakers were leading the Western Conference and looked strong contenders to represent the Western Conference in the NBA Finals. LeBron James was playing some of the best basketball of his career whilst showing all the haters that the King ain’t dead.

Anthony Davis was having an equally excellent season and was showing the NBA world that he was worth the sizeable ransom the Lakers parted ways with for him.

The supporting cast was also beginning to find their own feet together. Players such as Alex Caruso, KCP, Avery Bradley, Dwight Howard and Danny Green were all starting to find their role within the team and maximizing their usage on the floor.

And then the World got turned on its head by COVID-19.

Lives have been lost, families have been broken, and communities have come together to do what they can to protect their loved ones.

Whether the current NBA goes ahead is irrelevant. Safety and precaution should be top of the agenda. If this current NBA season is lost so that people can remain safe then so be it.

With this season potentially lost, the focus should be put onto next season for the Los Angeles Lakers.

With LeBron James and potentially Anthony Davis under contract next season, the purple and gold will need to maximize the time in which both these players have together in order to win a championship. LeBron isn’t getting any younger and the Lakers need to maximize the time they have with him as much as they can.

With some trade assets on the squad, the purple and the gold have the potential to add upgrades to the roster. If they can upgrade, they should do so.

With that being said. here are 3 trades the Los Angeles Lakers could make to improve next season.
