LeBron James: Can he do a Space Jam sequel on the court?
By Ronald Agers
The success of a LeBron James Space Jam sequel has nothing to do with the theaters. It will be a success in the NBA Finals
With the NBA soon to return presumably and Space Jam 2 not coming out until 2021, the sequel will be backwards for LeBron James. Instead of seeing the movie first, the world will see the work that LeBron put in during filming and compare to Michael Jordan. History already is written on how the Space Jam filming affected Jordan and the Bulls.
- When Jordan came back for the 1995-96 season, he won his fourth league MVP trophy.
- The Bulls ran off to a record-breaking 72-10 season considered the best season in NBA history. (That Warriors 73-9 record has no ring. Sorry!)
- It jump-started Chicago’s second three-peat.
- Until his second retirement, there was no question who the best player was in the NBA again.
Oh, by the way, Space Jam made over $230 million worldwide and if Jordan wasn’t known before, the secret got out who he was. The Jordan Xls are the most famous (…and hardest to obtain) shoe in the Nike company to this day and Jordan led the Tune Squad back from an enormous halftime deficit to beat the Monstars. He won the game on a half-court dunk stretching his arm with half of the Monstars hanging on him.
Good thing too. One loss and he was to suffer enslavement by Mr. Swackhammer (No truth to the rumor that the character was in the image of Jerry Krause!) on Moron Mountain.
Instead, we all got to witness this on Father’s Day for ring number four.
Lake Show Life wants to send prayers to Dwight Howard and his family!
Lakers center Dwight Howard is mourning the loss of Melissa Rios, the mother of his 6-year-old son David, he told reporters Friday. A terrible loss to Howard that talked about via ESPN.
"“I’ve had some things happen in my personal life that has been difficult to really handle,” Howard said on a video conference call. “My son’s mom, she had passed away a month and a half ago and it’s extremely difficult for me to try to understand how to talk to my son, who’s 6 years old, just about the whole situation.”"
A horrible tragedy for Howard, who the Lakers will need to make a championship run. It has been wonderful to see him resurrect his career. Something that Lake Show Life knew all along.
This is a reminder that sometimes that basketball is just what it is. Basketball. There are so many things that are more important with family at the top of the list.
Dwight Howard says it best and we’ll close it out that way.
"“Every moment counts,” Howard said. “Be grateful for every situation that you have, just be grateful for life. I think we also take for granted the little things and just spending time with people and stuff like that. And you know after having all these situations, it’s like, reconfirming to me just stay in the moment. Always be grateful. Always be grateful for everything you have, every little thing that happens.”"
Amen.
