Los Angeles Lakers’ blueprint, step one: Re-sign Anthony Davis long-term

The single most important piece of business the Los Angeles Lakers need to focus on this offseason is securing Anthony Davis, the player who will be the face of the franchise for potentially the next decade.

Since the AD trade that sent Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, the fourth overall pick and numerous other picks to the New Orleans Pelicans for Anthony Davis, the purple and gold have gone on from strength to strength and look well placed to be contenders for the title this season if it is indeed to continue.

The Los Angeles Lakers took a huge risk in trading the vast majority of their young core and draft picks to have the chance at signing Davis long term.

With how well Davis has meshed with LeBron James and how beloved he is in the city of Los Angeles, it seems like the risk is going to pay off.

The Lakers will go to the negotiating table the first day of free agency and offer Davis the maximum amount of money and years possible.

They want to lock him up for as long as possible.

The decision will fall upon Anthony Davis’ shoulders on what he wants to do long term.

The purple and gold do not seem to be worried about Anthony Davis leaving. With his agent being Rich Paul who is also LeBron James’ agent, the 3 seem to be symbiotic with the Los Angeles Lakers and Rob Pelinka at this moment in time.

The purple and gold are the perfect landing spot for Davis long term. They offer him the chance to win a ring, they are willing to spend whatever is necessary to ensure the team is doing it’s best, they have an experienced coaching staff and veteran filled roster who have been there and done that.

At this moment in time, the Los Angeles Lakers offer Anthony Davis the best chance at winning right now.

It is up to the Lakers to outline to Anthony Davis what they wish to do post-LeBron James to sell him on the long term future of the franchise.

At the end of the day, there is a high likelihood that Davis signs with the Lakers long term and the future of the franchise is in safe hands.
