Anthony Davis may need a new superstar teammate once LeBron James’ tenure is over with the Los Angeles Lakers.
It has been over two months since the last NBA game was played. With so much free time on our hands, it gives fans of the NBA time to think about their team’s future, the Los Angeles Lakers are no different. With LeBron James getting up there in age, who will replace LeBron when the King has finally left the building?
Anthony Davis and LeBron James. Not since the days of Shaq and Kobe in the early 2000s and Kobe and Pau in the late 2000s. the early 2010s has their been a pairing on the Los Angeles Lakers so ideally matched.
In LeBron James you have one of the greatest physical specimens to ever play the game of basketball. Never has there been such a complete player in a freakishly large package.
To compare LeBron’s to players of the past, LeBron is built like Karl Malone, passes the ball like Magic Johnson, jumps as high as Shawn Kemp, and runs at speed like Dwyane Wade. To put it mildly, LeBron is a physical anomaly.
It would have been so easy for LeBron to fall back on his physical traits, but to match his unparalleled physical gifts, LeBron is also one of the most intelligent, competitive, and charismatic players in NBA history.
All this put together makes him borderline impossible to replace.
Well… The Lakers are going to have to try and replace him not too far down the line.
With having Anthony Davis, the Lakers have a Superstar to build around the long term (If he extends his stay with the purple and gold), but he cannot do it alone.
The Lakers are a star-driven team, one star will not be enough, 2 or even 3 Superstars seem to be the new normal in the NBA.
Can the Lakers chase two superstars to join Davis? Will one be enough?
With all this being said, here are 3 superstars the Los Angeles Lakers should try to land.
