If the NBA season resumes, the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers could be on a collision course.

For the first time in NBA history, both Los Angeles basketball teams happen to be championship contenders. The possibility of both of these titans meeting in the playoffs for the first time has basketball fans salivating, with a strong chance of TV ratings being shattered.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the prevailing sentiment was the likely cancellation of the 2019-20 NBA season, thus denying us diehard hoops fans the chance to see who would be bestowed the title “The Kings of LA”.

In the absence of basketball games, the original intent of this article would’ve been to merely serve as a fun exercise in hypotheticals. However, recent developments have the season on-track to resume at some point in July. Certainly incredible news, yet this development simultaneously introduces the possibility of me looking incredibly foolish a few months down the road.

Before delving into the reasons why I think the Los Angeles Lakers would defeat the Clippers in a seven-game series (assuming reasonable health for both teams), I must mention the caveat that by no means do I think this series will be lopsided.

If I were asked to predict the outcome, it would be for the Lakers to win in 7 games. A significant contributing factor to the air of anticipation surrounding this potential series is due to how evenly matched these two teams appear to be.

Despite the fact the Clippers currently lead the season series 2-1, there are 3 major reasons why I think the Lakers would win a playoff series if they were to meet.
