Kendrick Perkins may have some insight on some Lakers rumors.

Who thought Kendrick Perkins would be the number one source of Lakers rumors these days? First he chimed in on the LeBron being taken off Paul Pierce’s Top 5. Now he is weighing in on Rajon Rondo and his direct (And indirect!) beef with Chris Paul and Ray Allen.

Thank God for Kendrick Perkins if you are an NBA fan. ESPN should hand the man his own podcast, radio show and half-hour NBA show on the network (Place him with a young writer from Lake Show Life…Oops just brainstorming and well never mind!). Who thought he would carry the NBA entertainment value of an entire network after “The Last Dance” aired their final episode last Sunday?

More and more Kendrick Perkins is pioneering the media movement back to the locker room for secrets that very few get a chance to hear.

When Paul Pierce set the NBA news cycle on fire keeping LeBron James out of his top 5 list all-time, it was Perkins that provided insight on why Pierce kept him off the list. It seems that Pierce and James have had bad blood that goes back to LeBron’s rookie year.

Slowly but surely, Kendrick Perkins is starting some trends here.

  • He is starting to make the right combinations of analytics, human behavior and entertainment.
  • Also he is providing real insight of unapologetic analysis from the players’ perspective not seen from anyone else other than Charles Barkley. Plus from the video here, he is not afraid of calling people out like Paul Pierce defending LeBron.
  • Most importantly, he does it while keeping the discussion in perspective. Something a lot of people in social media and commenters could learn from.

This discussion was good, but not as entertaining or surprising that kept the Boston Celtics/Los Angeles Lakers connection going possibly connecting the dots about Rajon Rondo’s infamous feuds with two NBA players, former and current in Ray Allen and Chris Paul.

Lakers Rumors on Lake Show Life has never been like this. Much of past behaviors actually make sense based on one story from Perkins that happened over a decade ago. Who would have thought (Okay really, who’s surprised?) that a feud that has carried for years started with a trade rumor that is connected to Rajon Rondo?

"“It was a point in time where Rondo was up there as probably like top five point guards in the league,” Perkins said. “You had Derrick Rose, you had Chris Paul, and then the next person that was coming to mind was Rondo. Like a Tony Parker, but Rondo was right there. He was making multiple All-Star games, breaking assists records, getting triple doubles. … And it was the 2009-2010 season—no, 2008-2009, where [it] came up that, you know, New Orleans was—Chris Paul wanted out, I guess. And it was rumors started to circulate and it was brought to the table that what if we trade Rondo and get CP.”"

It seems that two of the “Big 3” in Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce weren’t interested in getting Chris Paul, according to Perkins but Ray Allen wanted it to happen.

"“Ray was like, ‘Nah, let’s do it,'”"

When the facts got back to Rajon Rondo, reportedly things got so bad between the two that there was a two-round boxing match. The two stayed teammates for a number of seasons following that, and ever since Rondo has held his grudge against Allen. What’s even more fascinating is the six degrees of separation that surrounds this edition of Lakers rumors.

Over the next several pages Lake Show Life tries to read between the lines and connecting the dots how one trade rumor started animosity that is going strong today. Here’s our Lakers rumors theory piece.
