Lakers Rumors theory number three: Possible insight on why Rajon Rondo and Chris Paul dislike each other?
Last year, it’s no real surprise that Chris Paul and Rajon Rondo do not like each other. Rajon Rondo for the most part has been terrible on the floor for the Lakers this season. It really shouldn’t be a surprise that his best game of the season by a country mile was against Paul’s team, the Oklahoma City Thunder. Good thing too because his antics of getting thrown out of the first matchup almost cost the Lakers a win.
But this year was subliminal. Last year was in everyone’s face.
Last year ESPN hyped the game up all week-long as the first NBA on ABC game of the season. LeBron’s first game on national TV was supposed to be the marquee moment as the Lakers lost to the Houston Rockets 124-115.
What everyone really remembers because of the incident that happened between Chris Paul and Rajon Rondo.
In case you need a small reminder, here’s what happened.
The chain of events.
- Chris Paul put his finger in Rondo’s face DEFINITELY lead to Rondo swinging.
- Reports of Rondo spitting Paul’s face led to the finger. There have been reports that Carmelo Anthony may have spit on Chris Paul talking trying to break things up.
- Rajon Rondo hit Paul with a straight left to the jaw
- Reports also got out that things went past the floor into the crowd.
The major part of the investigation was about if Rajon Rondo did indeed spit on Chris Paul.
Video evidence did show some wet clear liquid come out of Rondo’s mouth. Rajon Rondo had a lot to say concerning what happened from his point of view to ESPN.
But it’s what Rajon Rondo stated about Chris Paul as a teammate that leads to a discussion that may be floating around the NBA as executives consider bringing Chris Paul on their roster at a salary cap killing price.
"“Everyone wants to believe Chris Paul is a good guy. They don’t know he’s a horrible teammate. They don’t know how he treats people. Look at what he did last year when he was in L.A.; trying to get to the Clippers’ locker room. They don’t want to believe he’s capable of taunting and igniting an incident."
When Chris Paul was traded for Russell Westbrook last summer, Rajon Rondo’s words that were said after his suspension came up in rumors after the deal was done. Lake Show Life covered it in what might have been the article of the year.
Boy the Lakers rumors were flying then. No one thought Chris Paul would even suit up for the Thunder much less turn the franchise around to the success they are enjoying this year.
Based on what you read on this page, it’s clear that Rajon Rondo is not the friendliest guy with the media. With Kendrick Perkins leaking this story. Will Rondo feel the same way about Big Perk as another ESPN personality.
