1. March 8th, 2020, Los Angeles Lakers at Los Angeles Clippers – First win against cross-town rival

After the offseason played out the way it did, the Lakers and Clippers were two obvious contenders on paper. After fighting all offseason for players, they did the same thing on the court, at the trade deadline, and even in the buyout market, and this season has seemed like the Western Conference will inevitably be won by one of the Los Angeles teams.

Their first two battles in the regular season were close games, but the Clippers looked like the better team and squeaked out two victories. Even though they lacked any sort of advantage from the crowd, the Clippers looked like the more energetic and fired up team in the first two matchups.

The third game between the two teams was yet again close enough to go either way. The Lakers were able to ride a 36-point third quarter and early fourth-quarter run, to coast to victory.
The most impressive part about this victory was that it was their second win in three nights against two of the best teams in the league. Right after their win against Milwaukee, they were able to muster up enough energy to take down what will be their biggest roadblock on the way to the finals.

Both dynamic duos had solid games in this one and they all almost put up 30 points each individually. The unexpected performer from this game was definitely Avery Bradley, who put up 24 points and had two steals against his former team, and that proved to be the difference in the game.

On the Clippers’ side, Montrezl Harrell also stood out with 20 points and 8 rebounds off of the bench. Both squads will have to hope for players like Bradley and Harrell to step up and have surprising performances to help take the load off the stars if they do meet in a later round in the playoffs.

If the Los Angeles Lakers had not beaten the Clippers at all in the regular season, it probably would have been difficult for them mentally to beat them in a seven-game series. This win was important to get the proverbial monkey off of their back and let them know they can close out and win a game against a Kawhi Leonard and Paul George lead Clipper team.
