7.  March 1st, 2020, Los Angeles Lakers at New Orleans Pelicans – Zion’s debut versus the Lakers

Since LeBron, no teenager has come into the league with the amount of expectations and an NBA body until Zion Williamson this season. In college he looked like a man against boys, but not many people expected him to carry that physical dominance into the NBA right away.

After a long wait to see him in regular-season action, Zion somehow exceeded his lofty hype and looked like an instant rookie of the year candidate. One of his best games of the season came in his first game against the Lakers and LeBron, who has been the face of the NBA since Williamson was a kid.

Zion did not disappoint in his first time up against the King, putting up an impressive 35 points and six rebounds. But LeBron seemed like he had something to prove, putting up a triple-double with 34 points of his own, 12 rebounds, and 13 assists.

The lesson learned from this game was that LeBron still gets up for the games when there seems to be a young star nipping at his throne. This game definitely helped LeBron’s case in the MVP conversation and helped create team momentum late in the season.

One unfortunate thing about this game was that there was no chance to see Zion go head to head with AD, the star big man he is trying to replace. Davis did not dress for this game due to injury, so the wait to see them match up against each other was extended.
