The Los Angeles Lakers will likely be back in action in July.
The NBA plans to resume its season in July at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, utilizing the courts and the space the resort has as a sort of bubble city to get all of the teams together and finish out the regular season.
There still is not a concrete plan on what the league plans to do once it returns. The league could run a short regular season, which appears to be the most likely, or it could just jump right into the playoffs after an extensive practice period that allows the players to get back in shape.
However, because of television rights, teams on the fringe and the fact that they still need to get into game shape, I would expect there to at least be a handful of games before the playoffs start.
I actually took a crack at coming up with a plan to resume the season and came up with an idea that would give all 32 teams in the league something significant to play for. You can find that here.
Once the season does resume, the Los Angeles Lakers are going to be back on their quest for championship number 17 for the franchise, which is pretty significant for some of the players involved.
It would give LeBron his fourth title, edging him closer to the all-time greats, Anthony Davis his first title and even more importantly, would cement Dwight Howard’s legacy in the league as he would finally get a championship.
The Lakers are the best team in the West and you could easily make the case for them being the best in the league but there are still some things that are going to decide the Lakers’ fate. These are the Lakers’ two keys to winning the title and bringing home number 17 for the franchise.
