The Los Angeles Lakers will play eight games before the playoffs begin.

The NBA has announced its plans to pick up the 2019-20 season at Disney World in Orlando, Florida, and the Los Angeles Lakers are getting their chance to finish what they started and work towards winning championship number 17.

Before the NBA Playoffs begin, every team will be playing eight games not only for seeding purposes but to help the players get back into game speed. It would be really hard for the Lakers to fall out of the first seed in the West, but they do have an outside chance of getting the best record in the league over the Milwaukee Bucks.

Using the potential schedule that we broke down in this article with some information about what the NBA’s plan could be, we are going to attempt to break down the Los Angeles Lakers’ record in these eight games once they return to action on July 31.

1. Los Angeles Lakers vs. Houston Rockets — Loss

The Lakers are not going to start on the right foot once the season resumes. The team will get a chance to go through training camp and get back to speed but there will be a bit of a learning curve and they do not get an easy opponent when the season resumes in the slightest.

The Lakers are a better team than the Houston Rockets and they absolutely would figure them out in a seven-game series, but the quirky small lineup with the high-energy play style is not something that is going to be hard to overcome in the first game back.

2. Los Angeles Lakers vs. Denver Nuggets — Win

Don’t worry, the Lakers won’t start the resumed season with an 0-2 record. The Lakers match up nicely with the Denver Nuggets. They are 2-1 against the Nuggets this season and will be looking to avenge their loss to Houston and prevent starting 0-2.
