Los Angeles Lakers: 3 reasons why LeBron James is this year’s MVP
The voters love a good story and LeBron James provides that
A tale as old as time in the United States of America. the fallen hero, ridiculed, over the hill, he’s done.
Then like a Phoenix out of the ashes, the fallen hero rises and reclaims the thrown that was once his.
Says like a movie, because it is and as fans we love it.
The media had LeBron James dead and buried last season. He failed miserably getting the Los Angeles Lakers to the playoffs, he disappeared into the shadows with an injury and when he came back the season was lost. He seemed disinterested, distant, and that his powers were beginning to wain.
*Cue the Rocky Montage*
LeBron James during the summer got back to work.
“Washed King! Washed King! Washed King!” flooding his social media. Talking heads laying him to rest.
Just the spark needed to reignite the fire.
LeBron worked incredibly hard with “Washed King” not far from his thoughts, his fuel to the fire.
LeBron came back this season in a big and bad way.
At the age of 35, defying Father Time, defying science that in his 17th season he is able to jump that high, run that fast and still be the best player in the World.
Pushing the Lakers to the top of the stacked Western Conference, besting the Super-team of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in the standings, leading the league in assists, outplaying his younger teammate in Anthony Davis who is an MVP candidate himself and in a neck and neck race with Giannis also for the DPOY trophy.
The media love a good story and LeBron just handed them the best narrative possible on a golden platter.
What about Giannis? If he lost after the season he had, it could be a travesty?
Giannis is 25 years of age, there is plenty of time for him to win the MVP trophy year after year for the next decade, but right now, the voters will vote for the comeback kid, the fallen hero in LeBron James.
The narrative plays a huge role in the MVP trophy and LeBron along with his level of play has just enough to claim his 5th MVP trophy matching the GOAT Michael Jordan.
You couldn’t write a better story.
