Is Jrue Holiday the perfect third star for the Los Angeles Lakers?

The Los Angeles Lakers are in a wonderful spot moving forward.

They have 4-time MVP LeBron James under contract for the next 2 years, they have Superstar Power Forward Anthony Davis who looks likely to sign on the dotted line long term and lead the purple and gold into the future post, LeBron James. They have a well-rounded roster full of veterans and a head coach who has taken them from lottery hell to Championship contender in one season.

So why would the purple and gold change a single thing?

While the Lakers love the depth they currently have on their roster, they are star chasers.

Since 1979 when Dr. Jerry Buss bought the Los Angeles Lakers, his philosophy for the team was to put on a show every night. With Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson and James Worthy, the Lakers had not just the best show in town but arguably the best show in professional sports.

Since that day, the Los Angeles Lakers have been laser-focused on being a star led team.

First, there was Magic, Kareem and Worthy, Next Kobe and Shaq, then Kobe and Pau and now LeBron and Anthony Davis.

While it is very possible that until LeBron retires or leaves LA, the purple and gold will stick with the team they have now.

Their past at-least suggests that they will kick the tires on finding the 3rd piece to add to the roster.

While players like Kyrie Irving, Bradley Beal, and Giannis Antetokounmpo might be the names people want on the Lakers, the likelihood the Lakers land them is slim at best.

While they might not reach that caliber of a star, a few tiers below a 6″5 point guard named Jrue Holiday might be available to the purple and gold.

Warning! it is going to cost them more than they should be comfortable with paying.
