Los Angeles Lakers: 3 lineups that could see high usage in the postseason
By Jason Reed
The Los Angeles Lakers have plenty of lineup options.
While they did not get the credit they deserved leading into the season, the Los Angeles Lakers have proven with their play in 2020 that they are one of the deepest teams in the NBA. All of the role players have stepped up when needed and that is what has led to the Lakers owning the best record in the Western Conference.
The rotation is going to get even more talented in the playoffs as well as it is going to be shrunk to about eight of the Lakers’ best guys. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are going to see the court more and Frank Vogel is going to put the team in the best position to succeed.
Vogel has been fantastic in his first season as head coach. Not only is he a key part of the Lakers’ being such a good defensive team, but he has a really good feel for when to implement a certain lineup.
Once the postseason starts, the Lakers are likely going to use less variance in the lineups they deploy. Obviously, there will still be some variance as subs need to happen, but the time of testing things out is over.
With that in mind, as well as who the Lakers might have to play in the playoffs, we decided to breakdown three potential lineup combinations that we think we are going to see a lot of in the postseason.
And just as a disclaimer: none of these lineups are going to include Dion Waiters. While Waiters absolutely has the skillset to be productive to the Los Angeles Lakers, he has not yet played a minute with the team. He absolutely could weave his way into these lineups if he plays great in the eight games before the playoffs.
