How Goran Dragic could help the Los Angeles Lakers: Playmaking

Goran Dragic will never be mistaken for his mentor and Hall of Fame former teammate Steve Nash. Very view players in history possess the basketball IQ and vision of Steve Nash.

While Dragic is not Steve Nash, he is still an incredibly effective and efficient play-maker.

Like Nash, Dragic is adept at making the simple pass. With the ball in his hands, you can see Dragic reading the defense to find the correct pass or shot.

As he has gotten older, Dragic has become a little bit more of a shooter than a playmaker as he is capable of hitting shots all over the court at an above-average clip.

With Anthony Davis and Anthony Davis on the floor, shots might be hard to come by.

Becoming the Laker’s secondary play-maker and leading the 2nd unit when LeBron is off the floor might be the ideal scenario for the Lakers and Dragic.

Dragic’s ability to pass the ball around for the Lakers could be hugely important and could re-galvanize a unit that falls off the map in terms of production when LeBron James is off the floor.
This is not to say that Dragic will not be the starter for the Los Angeles Lakers.

If they spend the mid-level exception on Dragic, they will be expecting starter-level minutes and production from him.

With Dragic only starting 1 game so far this season for the Miami Heat, this allows for him to find his way back into the starting line-up and for a championship-contending team.
