Los Angeles Lakers on the hot seat: Rajon Rondo

There is hope among Laker fans that playoff Rondo will return during the Orlando bubble and will give the team a new dynamic that has not existed thus far. This is especially true with Avery Bradley deciding against rejoining the team.

To be fair, there are numbers that suggest that playoff Rondo is a legitimate thing and is much more than just a silly narrative. However, there still is no guarantee that the Lakers will get that version of Rondo.

Rajon Rondo has a player option for next season, which seemingly puts him control of his future. However, the Lakers could still easily seek a trade for Rondo or inform the veteran point guard that they are seeking a trade to convince him to become a free agent.

That is the worst-case for Rondo, who still has something to offer to the team but is a bit of a redundant fit with LeBron James on the team as well. If the Lakers can get anything for Rondo, as well as open the door for a better fit, I would not be shocked if a trade happens.

However, Rondo coming and balling out in Orlando could convince the Lakers otherwise and lead the team to look in other directions in the offseason.
