Los Angeles Lakers News: LeBron James is on his way to the Orlando bubble.
Fans were waiting for this Los Angeles Lakers news and it has finally happened: LeBron James is officially on his way to Disney World, although it does not feel as magical as it typically does.
James tweeted on Thursday that he left the crib to head to the Disney World bubble. James used the same comparison that Damian Lillard used in a post earlier in the day, stating that it “felt like I’m headed to do a bid man!”
“Doing a bid” is a slang term for serving a sentence in prison. James had to leave his family behind at their Los Angeles home while he travels to Orlando in quest of championship number 17.
There are already several players at the Orlando bubble and the basketball world was waiting for James to either announce his departure or share his experience in Orlando. Pictures of some not-so-appetizing dinner plates were shared by former Laker Troy Daniels on Tuesday near the same time that LeBron shared his taco Tuesday experience on his Instagram.
The joke on NBA Twitter instantly became that LeBron would not be eating that spread as the face of the NBA and all.
Others have been making the most of their experience in the bubble thus far. Maxi Kleber shared a hilarious video of the Dallas Mavericks having a dance party on their balconies at the Yacht Club while Patrick Beverley gave us a sneak peek into his room at the bubble, including far too many plain white shirts to count.
Los Angeles Lakers news: What happens once LeBron James gets to the bubble?
Every player is forced to quarantine for two days in their hotel rooms once arriving in the Orlando bubble and have to record two negative tests until they are allowed to move around the premises.
According to Marc Stein, once those two days are up there are going to be better food selections, but for the time being, James might have to eat the cafeteria-style food that makes a college student salivate.
Once those two days are up, James and the rest of the Lakers will be free to move around the premises, practice and engage in any of the activities provided to them, including ping pong, golf and a gaming lounge.
The league is making sure that none of the players will leave the property either. If they do leave the bubble they will be forced to quarantine in their rooms for 10 days and once again record two negative tests.
Hopefully, this entire bubble situation can be as seamless for these players as possible. While they are getting paid to play a sport, they still have to spend a significant amount of time away from their families. Their safety and health, both mentally and physically, should always be considered first.
