What is needed in the Orlando bubble for the Los Angeles Lakers?

The Los Angeles Lakers will enter the Orlando bubble to prepare for the continuation of the NBA season and their championship journey. Lake Show Life already knows about the much-needed presence of LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Those two are common sense. Let’s go deeper to see what the Los Angeles Lakers need to have in Orlando to be successful!

The Los Angeles Lakers, one of the NBA’s most storied franchises (Boston Celtics the other!) has been the epitome of the 2020 message, “Life comes at you fast”. The Lakers, along with their crown jewel superstar, LeBron James, have dealt with three decades of drama in one season alone. It doesn’t even matter if someone else causes the issues, the Lakers are always in the mix with LeBron in the headlines.

First, Daryl Morey sends out a tweet that started a huge rift (Being as respectful as possible here) between the NBA and China. Low and behold the Lakers happened to be in China at the time with all of the unrest for two preseason games.

As the story continued to unfold, the trip that almost didn’t have any games at all due to a boycott ended as a Lakers sweep. By the time the team got back to the states, LeBron James was in the spotlight for the world to critique again.

Then the Kobe Bryant tragedy that rocked not only the Los Angeles Lakers and the NBA, but the world in general. What was supposed to be a celebration with LeBron passing Kobe for 3rd place on the all-time scoring list turned into a loss that Lakers Nation probably hasn’t let sink in yet much less get over.

Then after a loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on the first night back after Bryant’s death, the Lakers found some footing and sit at the top of the Western Conference when the season starts back up at the end of the month on July 30th. But it was how the team was rolling 17 weeks ago that had the NBA world wondering.

  • Are the Lakers for real?
  • Are they an exciting regular season team that will crack in the postseason?
  • More importantly, can the Lakers beat the Clippers or the Bucks? They got beat down in every other game this season by these teams, right?

Well, there was the weekend of the season when the Lakers played the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday night and the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday afternoon. Both were prime-time games in front of the NBA world. Could the Lakers pass the test? Umm…yeah.

The Los Angeles Lakers dominated both teams in a three-game stretch and punched their playoff ticket for the first time in seven years.

But who would have thought that a pandemic caused by COVID-19 would shut the NBA down for months? No one even remembers that the Lakers lost their last game in a NBA arena.

One LeBron James smoked layup at crunch time.

Then, seemingly the entire Brooklyn Nets franchise back to the Julius Dr. J Erving days in the ABA was screaming (No check that praying!) at Anthony Davis while his jumper at the buzzer rimmed in and out.

Who would have known that four Nets players and two Lakers players would have been reported contracting the COVID-19 virus soon after the game? Seems like forever though, doesn’t it?

Well after months of anguish and planning, your Los Angeles Lakers will report to the bubble as of this writing. Not without a bit of drama that the Lakers are used to at this point of the season.

Up until Monday, Dwight Howard was still unsure if he would accompany the team. That changed on CNN Tonight with Don Lemon.

Lake Show Life was clear on the fact that the Lakers were not a good team without Dwight Howard. Would they win a playoff series or two? Sure. Beat the championship contenders? Please.

But with Howard in the fold, the Lakers are close to ending the small ball craze for at least one year. With Howard, they are easily the biggest defensive team in the NBA that gives any opponent a mandate of dunking if they want to score up close. How important is Dwight Howard? He did not play in the Lakers loss to the Nets.

With the Lakers traveling to Orlando, Lake Show Life has our own list of things the team will definitely need for success on this journey to a possible NBA Finals appearance. Sure having LeBron James and Anthony Davis will be important. That’s taking the easy way out and there are two weeks to get to them.

Over the next several pages, we will go over the overlooked list that the media won’t tell you Lakers fans courtesy of Lake Show Life.
