Los Angeles Lakers’ young free agents worth considering: Juan Hernangomez

Juan Hernangomez is another 24-year-old big man who could add something to the Los Angeles Lakers, under the right circumstances. The Lakers already are already several players deep at forward, so Hernangomez might not seem like a great fit.

However, there are multiple reasons why the Lakers could look to add a forward in the offseason. First, the team is going to lose Jared Dudley to free agency and there is nothing wrong with adding more depth to the power forward position.

Plus, there is always the chance of the team trading Kyle Kuzma. And while Hernangomez is no Kuzma, he could be, along with Markieff Morris, enough to replace what Kuzma brings to the table while the team also gets a trade asset in return.

MUST-READ: Pass or pursue on the three biggest potential trade targets

Hernangomez has not been all that great in his career but he has shown really good flashes, especially since joining the Minnesota Timberwolves this season. In 14 starts in Minnesota, Hernangomez averaged 12.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and shot 42 percent from beyond the arc.

He was shooting quite a bit as well, averaging 4.9 three-point shots per game.

Hernangomez has shown in Minnesota that he has the potential to be a rebounding stretch four that can shoot 3-5 threes per game and add 6-9 points and 4-6 rebounds per game off the bench. With LeBron James facilitating, that potential is absolutely reachable.
