Should the Lakers trade up in the draft for Cole Anthony?
Should the Los Angeles Lakers trade up for point guard Cole Anthony?
The Los Angeles Lakers are in an enviable position.
They are playoff-bound, they are the number 1 seed in the Western Conference, they have two superstars in Anthony Davis and LeBron James and they have a wonderful supporting cast that will help the aforementioned two superstars potentially reach the mountaintop and win a record-tying 17th Championship for the Los Angeles Lakers.
After nearly a decade of struggle, life is good in Lakerland.
When it comes to this year’s draft, the Lakers will hopefully be picking 30th overall meaning that they have won a ring.
This year’s draft is expected to be one of the weakest in recent memory with not many players expected to be franchise-altering stars in the near or distant future.
That is not good news for teams picking at the end of the 1st round.
So should the purple and gold be happy with their current draft position or should they be looking to move up and potentially land one of the more impactful players in the draft?
If the Lakers were to move up, who should they target?
One such player is North Carolina Point Guard Cole Anthony.
Previously considered the consensus Number 1 pick in this year’s draft, Anthony’s stock has fallen during his time with the Tar Heels and it leads him to be a fringe lottery pick.
Tankathon ranks him as the 18th-best prospect in the draft. ESPN ranks him 13th.
Could the Los Angeles Lakers make a move to the back end of the lottery and potentially pick up their franchise point guard?
