The Philadelphia 76ers receive: SG/SF Danny Green and the Lakers 2020 1st round pick

The Los Angeles Lakers receive: SG/SF Josh Richardson and SG Zhaire Smith

The 76ers started the season with so much promise.

They lost Jimmy Butler but picked up Al Horford and Josh Richardson.

Not a bad consolation prize.

However, the team never seemed to truly gel at all this season. With way too many ball-dominant players on one squad, the 76ers just haven’t been able to gel this season.

While there have been talks of Ben Simmons or Joel Embiid being moved on, the fact of the matter is they are potential All NBA performers and unless they got the right package they wouldn’t even consider it.

Richardson on the other hand is very movable.

For a team that has so many ball-dominant players, what do you need to counteract that?

Danny Green.

Green is the ideal player for the 76ers.  He isn’t ball-dominant, he gives the 6ers better floor spacing with his ability to shoot from 3, he is a stellar perimeter defender which alongside the likes of Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid and Matisse Thybulle would give the 76er’s elite defense inside and out and he is a leader who has been there and done it for both the Raptors and Spurs.

Josh Richardson offers something very valuable to the Lakers.

A trade piece.

Richardson can shoot the ball also, don’t get me wrong, he will come in and be able to score well for the purple and gold but his most valuable attribute to the Lakers is his incredibly tradeable contract.

If the Lakers want to go for a bigger player mid-season, they have the opportunity to do so with players like Kyle Kuzma, Josh Richardson, Talen Horton-Tucker, and the also newly acquired Zhaire Smith.

Smith for the most part is mainly an interesting prospect who is a throw in to make the money work for the deal. There is not much expectation right away from him to contribute but the talent is there.

Smith is more than likely better than anything they will land at the end of the 1st round. The Lakers would not be shy in trying to buy back into the second round if they find a player they like such as Duke products PG Tre Jones or SG Cassius Stanley that caught their eye.

The Lakers will not trade Danny Green just for the sake of it. They must get better if they are to move this important of a piece.

If the Los Angeles Lakers can land a star for Danny Green and other pieces, you can expect him to be out the door.
