Who might the Los Angeles Lakers target in the 2020 NBA Draft?

With the NBA restart fully underway, basketball-deprived fans can rest easy knowing that the 2019-2020 season will play out, and we will crown a new NBA champion this year (fingers crossed).

The month of August — typically a quiet one in the NBA — will be a defining one this year.  The regular season will conclude, Laker playoff basketball will return, and the NBA Draft Lottery on August 25th, will mark the beginning of preparations from next season.

In any other year, the NBA Draft would’ve occurred already. This year, we’ll have to wait until October 16th, to see where our favorite incoming players will be suiting up next season. Due to a madness-less March this year, and uncertainty surrounding the NBA Draft Combine, teams have more questions and less answers regarding this year’s crop of players.

As scouts scatter to make determinations and decisions off of limited tape, and virtual interviews, we’ve decided to try and help our Los Angeles Lakers with their draft-day decisions.  With LeBron James turning 36 at the end of the year, and Anthony Davis in his prime, the Lakers are clearly in must-win-now mode.

With LA set to pick at the end of the draft, there is always the possibility they package this selection with another player(s) and flip it into a veteran who can contribute immediately.  For the sake of this article, we will assume that the Lakers will hold onto their pick and not trade it away.

Under this assumption; the following 5 players are ones we believe can have the biggest impact in LA next season and beyond.
