Should Lakers fans worry about Anthony Davis’ playoff inexperience?
By Jason Reed
Anthony Davis is one of the most inexperienced players on the Los Angeles Lakers roster.
The Los Angeles Lakers arguably have the most talented superstar duo in the league as they have two of the five best active players in the game in LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Ironically, though, the superstar duo could not be more different in terms of playoff experience.
LeBron is the most experienced player in the league while Davis is one of few superstars that does not have much playoff experience at all. In fact, Davis is one of the most inexperienced players on the Lakers’ roster that includes guys like Dwight Howard, JaVale McGee, Danny Green and Rajon Rondo.
Should that be a concern? It has been a narrative that Paul George cannot perform in the playoffs and if we are going poke fun at Clippers fans for that then it is only fair that we look in the mirror at the Lakers’ second superstars.
These concerns were potentially highlighted in the Lakers’ game against the Toronto Raptors as well. The Raptors are a tough, experienced playoff team that, even without Kawhi Leonard, will make some noise in the NBA Playoffs this season.
Davis played horribly. The Raptors game-planned him perfectly and he played passively. Granted, he responded with a huge game against the Utah Jazz, but that is a first or second round-caliber opponent. A superstar should do that against the Jazz.
When the going gets tough, is Anthony Davis going to get going? Will his lack of playoff experience ultimately hurt the Lakers, especially in this unique situation where experience might be the best attribute to have? Should Lakers fans be worried?
Our answer? No. Anthony Davis’ playoff inexperience is not something that Lakers fans should worry about and there are several reasons why.
