Rondo Rajon has been an excellent addition for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers were without Rajon Rondo during the bubble’s eight seeding games as well as the first round of the 2020 NBA Playoffs against the Portland Trail Blazers. His presence was missed, but after his first game, his critics (myself included) were upset.

Rondo did not look great in Game 1 against the Houston Rockets and played the most minutes of any guard off the bench, something that was outrageous considering how good Alex Caruso was in the first round (granted, he was in foul trouble).

Frank Vogel got better at balancing the two guards in Game 2 and Rondo looked really good. He was even better in Game 3, leading the Lakers on a crucial run in the fourth quarter that ultimately won the game.

Rajon Rondo is making Lake Show Life eat crow.

Now, we certainly have our Rondo believers here at Lake Show Life, but over on the Lake Show Life Podcast, Daniel Preciado and myself constantly discussed how Playoff Rondo is not a real phenomenon and that Laker fans should be wary.

Thus far he has proven us wrong and we talked about it on the latest episode of the podcast.

I will say, while Rondo has been fantastic for the Los Angeles Lakers and while it is a huge plus for the team, I would still be wary in expecting that out of Rondo. We have seen the kind of disappointing games that he can have and this matchup against Houston is tailor-made for him to be successful.

Against a better defensive team that has two elite wings, such as the Los Angeles Clippers, the defense of Alex Caruso and Danny Green might be more important than Rondo’s facilitating. At the end of the day, though, it is up to Frank Vogel to make the proper adjustments and that is why he is an NBA coach and we are not.

Over the rest of the podcast episode, we also break down the performance of our purple and gold role players, give our betting predictions for Game 4 and take a look at what is happening around the rest of the NBA Playoffs.
