The Los Angeles Lakers have moved on to the Western Conference Finals.

The Los Angeles Lakers will be one of the final four teams remaining in the NBA Playoffs for the first time since 2010. The Lakers completed the gentleman’s sweep over the Houston Rockets on Saturday night, advancing to the Western Conference Finals in the process.

The Lakers join the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics — who face each other in the Eastern Conference Finals — among the final four teams remaining. The final second-round series that needs to be decided is between the Los Angeles Clippers and Denver Nuggets, with the Clippers leading the series three games to two.

It would be shocking if the Nuggets came back from a 3-1 deficit to get past the Clippers. So while at the time of writing this it is not yet official, the Clippers are the most likely matchup for the Lakers.

And we all expected that all year long. Since last October, the narrative around the season was that we would get a Los Angeles Western Conference Finals. Nobody expected that to be in Orlando at Disney World of all places, but here we are and it is a story that Walt wouldn’t have been able to come up with himself.

The two best superstar duos who share an arena and both have something to prove. This is a dynamite series and to many, these are the two best teams in the league (sorry to any Heat and Celtics fans… but not the Bucks, they blew it!).

Personally, I have flip-flopped on who would win this series all season long. The Clippers are a great basketball team and I truly do try and be as objective as possible.

However, with the potential matchup just days away, I can’t help but think that the Lakers will get it done and it might not be as hard as expected. Here are the three main reasons for my line of thinking.
