The Los Angeles Lakers thoroughly took care of the Miami Heat in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

The Los Angeles Lakers are championship ready and totally focused. All of that was on full display about six minutes late in the first quarter. After that, well, the game was over. Anthony Davis, LeBron James and a 3-point barrage led to a Miami Heat beat down. How extensive was it? Lake Show Life breaks it down with Lake Show Life Lessons. The only Los Angeles Lakers post-game with video analysis!

*A Lake Show Life parody of the 30 for 30 voice:*

What if I told you the Los Angeles Lakers were getting blown out by 13 points early in the game only to be leading at the end of the first quarter?

What if Anthony Davis literally yelled “It’s over!” after forcing yet another Miami timeout with an 80-54 lead?

Then there’s this…

The Lake Show Life staff is more critical of the Los Angeles Lakers than most websites, but there is one thing this staff has always said about this team. When LeBron James cares and Anthony Davis is aggressive, quit because you have no chance.

That’s basically what the Miami Heat did. If they say different, the dominance of the Los Angeles Lakers talent-wise was just that much more evident.

Final score: Los Angeles Lakers 116, Miami Heat, 98

The Los Angeles Lakers were actually playing terribly at the start of this game, falling behind 23-10. Then the Lake Show hit the alarm clock and went on one of their numerous runs throughout the game to snatch the lead at 31-28 at the end of the quarter.

By the end of the half, the Lakers had clamped the Miami offense giving up only 20 points and walked into the locker room up 17 points.

The Lakers set some history in this game according to ESPN Stats & Info. The Lakers are the first team to fall behind by double digits only to come back and lead by double digits at the end of the 1st half in a Finals game since 1996-97. This game was defined by runs. ALL LAKERS’ RUNS!

  • They closed the first quarter on a 19-3 run after Miami’s 13-0 run to fall behind 23-10.
  • Then they finished on a 25-3 run to boost the lead to 65-48 at halftime.
  • In the third quarter, the Lakers just piled on with a 18-3 run.

By the time these runs were over, the Lakers extended the lead to 32 points in the third quarter, which was an absurd 45 POINT TURNAROUND from the start of the game! Once the Lakers came back from their 13-point first-quarter deficit, the game got ugly.

The same could be said for this NBA Finals series if the Miami Heat stars don’t recover from injury quickly.

  • Goran Dragic left the game in the first half with a foot injury.
  • Bam Adebayo strained his shoulder banging with Dwight Howard. (Folks, you really can’t understand how strong NBA players are in general. Dwight Howard is so strong it’s scary!).
  • Jimmy Butler hurt his ankle (Twice!), but it would be a shock to everyone if he is not in the lineup on Friday! He played through the injury in this game, for what reason? Who knows?

With the Heat injuries being mentioned, it wouldn’t have mattered. This game was over before all of these incidents happened. The Lakers are the better team and look for a similar performance in Game 2 of this series on Friday.
