Los Angeles Lakers: KCP joins the Lakers “Big 3” in Game 4, 4 Lessons
By Ronald Agers
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was huge for the Los Angeles Lakers!
Yes, Lake Show Life wanted KCP benched. He was terrible in the last game for the most part, the NBA Finals. Coming into Game 4, let’s just say the numbers didn’t lie.
- Caldwell-Pope shot 5-20 from the 3 point line.
- He was shooting 28% (8-29) from the field overall.
- In Game 3, he shot 1-5 for 5 points. He missed two free throws too!
Let’s just say his numbers went up a little. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope came out on fire. He scored the first 10 points for the Los Angeles Lakers not only hitting shots from distance but taking the ball to the hole strong.
There was a time when KCP was compared to manna from heaven by Robe Pelinka. Boy, that video was almost a meme with his struggles. But after this game, it will be a quote that will be reminisced by many Lakers fans. He was outstanding on both ends of the floor.
KCP scored 15 points, grabbed 3 rebounds while dishing out 5 assists.
Here are some Lake Show Life Lessons fun facts.
- KCP has actually made 40 3-point shots this postseason!
- He is tied for the second-most in a single playoff year in Lakers history with Trevor Ariza. The all time leader?
- Kobe Bryant is at the top of the list (Duh! Did you really think it would be anyone else?) with 49 shots from distance back in 2010.
In another example of being an impactful player in ways analytics don’t show. After scoring 10 points early, he closed out the Heat late.

- After Jimmy Butler missed a 3 point shot LeBron races down the floor and hits KCP in the corner.
- KCP raises up and fires (This dude don’t miss from the right side!) over Tyler Herro for a huge 3 pointer to extend the lead to 5 points.
- The next time down, KCP took Duncan Robinson off the dribble and hit him with a sweet lay-up before AD sent everyone home for the night!
His aggressiveness has exposed a weakness that the Lakers need to exploit. Duncan Robinson and Tyler Herro are atrocious on defense.
One Lakers player knows this. He didn’t score much but man did he score when it mattered! Read on to see who it is!
