Rajon Rondo may not be on the Los Angeles Lakers moving forward.

Rajon Rondo turned into one of the key members of the Los Angeles Lakers during their NBA Championship run. After missing the eight seeding games and first round of the NBA Playoffs, Rondo returned against the Houston Rockets and was great for the Lakers.

This came as a bit of a surprise to many. While the legend of Playoff Rondo was certainly there, the veteran point guard was so frustrating to watch during the regular season. Even those that believed in Rondo could not have expected him to be as good as he was.

Rondo was consistently a plus on the offensive side of the court and showed more effort on the defensive end to keep himself from being a negative. He did great in running the offense, particularly in the fastbreak, and shot a staggering 40% from beyond the arc.

Rondo made 20 threes in the NBA Playoffs. He did not surpass 20 threes in an entire season until the 2013-14 season, his eighth in the league.

Many wanted Rondo out of LA before the bubble began and now it is safe to say that most fans want him back. However, the previous wish might end up being the one that comes true.

NBA insider Chris Sheridan first reported that Rondo would be opting out of his contract to become an unrestricted free agent. While he could come back to LA, he is likely not going to get a long-term deal from the Lakers, so he’s definitely testing the market.

While we would love to see Rondo back in the purple and gold, there definitely is a chance that he is elsewhere in 2021. Here are the three best fits for Rondo if he does indeed leave.
