2. Miami Heat

Perhaps after winning the NBA Championship with LeBron James, the superstar who infamously took his talents to South Beach, Rajon Rondo could also take his talents to South Beach. What isn’t there to love for Rondo?

He would join another contending team, he would get to play in one of the best free-agent destinations in the league, Miami, and he would be playing in a state with no state income tax! From a basketball standpoint, it makes even more sense.

The Heat could be thin at the point guard position next season. Miami does have young guard Kendrick Nunn but Goran Dragic is an unrestricted free agent this season and very well could take an MLE deal elsewhere. Rondo provides someone who is not a massive fall off and would likely be much cheaper.

Plus, Rondo and Jimmy Butler already have a relationship together. They played with each other on the Chicago Bulls and Rondo said before the NBA Finals that Butler was one of his favorite teammates from the Miami days.

It is a team that is a contender that could need a point guard in a great destination alongside someone he loved playing with before. Sounds great for Rondo.
