Separate Los Angeles Lakers rumors about Chris Paul and Derrick Rose are prominent right now.
The Los Angeles Lakers are just over a week removed from winning the NBA Championship and the rumor mill is already churning at a very fast pace. It makes sense as the Los Angeles Lakers want to repeat as champions in 2021 — this franchise wants to create dynasties, not one-off titles.
Two of the most prominent rumors surrounding the Lakers that have serious legs are regarding point guards Chris Paul and Derrick Rose. Both are at different stages of their careers with different value.
The Paul rumors were born courtesy of Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report. An NBA executive told Pincus that Paul would love to return to LA and that it would be a dream come true. It is no secret that Paul and LeBron James are great friends as well.
Rose was connected to the Lakers during the NBA Trade Deadline and those rumors have flared up yet again. Sean Deveney of Heavy.com reported that an NBA executive told him that a Pistons-Lakers trade for Rose is a lot more likely to happen now than it was earlier in the year.
Paul is the better player if we go off of last season. He enjoyed a really great bounce back year that lifted him back into being an all-star. Rose has not been an all-star in eight years.
However, Rose is still a far better trade target for the Los Angeles Lakers than Chris Paul, and quite frankly, it is not even close. Here is why.
