Rajon Rondo: Miami Heat

The Miami Heat are the perfect destination for Rajon Rondo, who is opting out of his deal to pursue free agency after a stellar showing in the NBA Playoffs that undoubtedly raised his value on the open market.

The Heat have a ton of cap space that they are saving for next summer but they can afford to overpay Rondo for this season to get point guard help. Goran Dragic is a free agent and will probably get a longer-term MLE deal elsewhere. A one-year deal for Rondo, even at a similar or higher salary, makes more sense for the Heat.

The Heat would then get a veteran point guard to operate off the bench behind Kendrick Nunn. With Dragic out it was clear that he was the only player that really fit that billing for the Heat as Butler had to take over and play more of a point guard role in the Finals.

For Rondo, he gets to go to a contending team and live in beautiful South Beach in a state that charges no state income tax. He gets to contend, he gets paid a decent amount and he gets to reunite with one of his favorite teammates from his Chicago Bulls tenure, Jimmy Butler.

It is a match made in heaven and unless the Lakers offer him a contract that he cannot refuse, I see Rondo going to Miami.
