With the Milwaukee Bucks clock ticking. We give three reasons why Giannis Antetokounmpo could join the Los Angeles Lakers in 2021 free agency.

The Los Angeles Lakers enter the 2020 NBA offseason in a tremendous position. They have quite a few free agents but have the flexibility to explore the market. They have the non-taxpayer mid-level exception, bi-annual exception and veteran minimum candidates available.

They can decide to go with one-year contracts with second-year options again. Or they can choose to sign guys right now while teams prepare for 2021.

The reason teams may be preparing for 2021 is that there are multiple big-name free agents. One of those could be Giannis Antetokounmpo. The back-to-back MVP winner will be the biggest free agent to hit the market since LeBron James in 2018.

The Lakers could decide that they want to make a splash in 2021 and go after Giannis. Maybe that’s why they’re keeping Kostas Antetokounmpo around? It can’t hurt to have his brother on the team.

But with all seriousness, there aren’t many teams that have a chance at Giannis. No matter how much cap space a team may have it won’t matter. Teams like the Milwaukee Bucks, Miami Heat and the Lakers may be the only three with a realistic chance in the race.

We take a look at three reasons why Los Angeles can be an appealing option for Giannis. The NBA should be worried because it’s not just a thought. It is a real possibility if Rob Pelinka wants to go that route.
