DeMar DeRozan is the latest player to join the Los Angeles Lakers rumors this offseason.

Winning the NBA Championship has not slowed down the Los Angeles Lakers rumors this offseason. The Lakers are in a prime position to make some sort of improvements this offseason and several names have been connected to the team.

The newest name to join the rumor mill is former all-star and current San Antonio Spurs guard, DeMar DeRozan.

Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer first reported that a potential DeRozan trade to the Lakers is one of several moves that the Spurs are considering for DeRozan. The trade would be built around the Spurs receiving Danny Green and Kyle Kuzma (h/t Bleacher Report).

DeRozan is a big name and is from Los Angeles, so there is natural intrigue there among Laker fans. Any time you can get a four-time all-star and two-time All-NBA player you have to do it, right?

Well, perhaps not. While DeRozan’s one-year player option is perfect to keep cap space for next summer (for Giannis Antetokounmpo), I would be very skeptical of the Lakers actually trading for the former Raptor, despite what reports and rumors we hear.

There are two huge reasons (or roadblocks, should we say) that will keep this trade from ever happening. Here is why the Los Angeles Lakers should not trade for DeMar DeRozan and why Laker fans should not be bummed out about it.
