3. Serge Ibaka

Serge Ibaka would be an ideal option following the Dennis Schroder trade. He may not be the same type of player as Danny Green, but he can help in similar ways.

Although Ibaka is not the athletic shot blocker he once was, he could still provide the Lakers with another option at center in a potential small-ball lineup. By sliding Serge Ibaka to the five spot, Anthony Davis would be able to do his work around the perimeter where he feels more comfortable.

The Lakers signed Danny Green last season with the thought that he would become the team’s sharpshooter from deep. Unfortunately, Green was never able to consistently find his range and would continuously find himself in shooting slumps. Serge Ibaka was able to show that he was a reliable perimeter shooter this past season, shooting 38.5% from three.

Serge Ibaka’s biggest impact could potentially be on the defensive end for the Lakers. His blocked shots were down this season, but his effort is still there. Ibaka moves extremely well for a guy his size, which allows him to defend players both bigger and smaller than himself. This could prove to be important should the Lakers need an additional wing defender.
