The Los Angeles Lakers shocked many by signing Montrezl Harrell to a mid-level exception contract.
The Los Angeles Lakers signed Montrezl Harrell to a two-year, $19 million dollar deal. Adding a player like Harrell is a perfect move for Rob Pelinka.
This signing has already received an outraged response from Clippers players. Clippers point guard Patrick Beverley simply tweeted out a couple of angry emojis. On the other side of the trade, Lakers fans are rejoicing.
There is plenty of reason for Lakers Nation to be celebrating this move. The Lakers landed either a starting center or a stud to carry the bench unit defensively. His role will all depend on what head coach Frank Vogel sees as best for the good of the team. However, it is certain that Harrell will flourish in either role on the Lakers.
Harrell is coming off of a 6th man of the year campaign with the Los Angeles Clippers. In that season, he averaged 18.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks a game on 58% shooting in only 27.8 minutes per game.
Rob Pelinka and the Lakers front office could not have handpicked a player that fits the mold of a Lakers center better. There are many reasons why Montrezl Harrell will be a perfect fit on the Lakers.
